DISCOVERING FLORIDA FOSSILS
This is the most popular of the Creation Adventures workshops. It offers many firsthand looks at the fossils collected at Peace River and other Florida Locations. It starts with a short presentation of fossils in the Mammoth Room. Here your students are introduced to the creation-fall-Flood outline followed by the Ice Age (Ice moment) Then in the discovery room workshop they will experience an interactive emphasis on the types of animals that are included in the fabulous Florida fossils. Many demonstration specimens are available to handle. Comparing to modern forms helps to see the relevance of creature types that have multiplied after kind. With the help of a “fossil search “ the students are then given the opportunity to identify for themselves the evidences from authentic screened specimens from passed Peace River hunts. Sorting and observing, features of small specimens already emphasized should reinforce identities and will add to their skills as they are prepared to hunt on the river themselves. Other important information included in this workshop are fossil collection techniques, fossil permit information, tools for collecting, river conditions, and fossil preparations.

This is an orientation workshop to prepare your students for a separate River Hunt Adventures (1) bank location hunt or (2) canoeing multiple location hunts. (Click here for separate descriptions.)

VIDEO: This may be included as time permits.
Total Time for in-house Orientation: 2-2.5 hrs.
(This is a pre-requisite to the River Hunt Adventures. Orientation must precede river collection hunts.)
